Fresh Ink: Notable Music signs Sam Phillips and Adrian Younge

Adrian Younge Signs to Notable Music

Los Angeles-based independent music publisher Notable Music Company has signed singer-songwriter Sam Phillips and multi-instrumentalist Adrian Younge.

Sam Phillips joins Notable on the heels of launching Long Play, her unique web-based subscription installation that features new music, short films, original essays, candid footage of her at work in the studio, photographs by and of her and other exclusive material.  Phillips’ track “Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us” appeared on the Robert Plant and Allison Krauss Grammy-winning album Raising Sand, while her new song ”Reflecting Light” is featured in the film Crazy Heart.  Find out more about Phillips and Long Play at www.samphillips.com.

The signing of composer and multi-instrumentalist Adrian Younge is the first in a new joint-venture between Notable and Wax Poetics, a Brooklyn-based media group that focuses on joining classic and contemporary artists via print, recordings, radio and film. Younge, a self-taught musician and film editor, composed the original score to the 2009 comedy Black Dynamite. The movie, inspired by classic blaxploitation films of the 1970’s, was a sensation at last year’s Sundance Film Festival, with the score receiving critical acclaim for capturing the true cinematic soul of the period.  The album is currently available from Wax Poetics Records.
